This extraordinary, pink Tote Bag is made by Khama & designed by Sweet Toof. It is no ordinary tote bag for it has an exceptionally large heart. In order to create this collection Khama collaborated with fashion, fair trade & London street artists. The company also collaborates with micro-enterprise projects in small villages in Malawi. They use locally sourced & recycled materials to make these limited edition bags. Through this project they hope to challenge our perceptions of fair trade products & provide the women who make them sustainable employment. All the women are shareholders in the business & benefit from training & development projects. The original artwork for this bag is designed by Sweet Toof. Sweet Toof has risen up the ranks as a graffiti artist throughout the 80’s & 90’s, where his letterforms & street-styles have evolved alongside a rigorous academic practice as a realist painter & sculptor. Heavily influenced by the Vanitas paintings of sixteenth century Europe, Mexican Day of the Dead, Subway Art, & the underground comics of Vaughn Bodé, his characteristic gummy gnashers are a true fusion of his street & studio practice. The bag is screen-printed by hand in Malawi, using contrasting colours. It has a black back, black handles & the handle drop is 23cm. It is 48cm x 40cm x 15cm.
